Pronoun practice sessions
I offer pronoun practice sessions to help cultivate a world where everyone's preferred pronouns are respected. Recent research demonstrates that while expansive use of third-person pronouns has a long history and is highly impactful for individual and collective well-being, many social and organizational barriers persist that limit the affirming disclosure, acceptance, and accurate use of chosen pronouns.

In response, I provide pronoun practice sessions to groups and organizations that want to improve equity and contribute to a more gender-inclusive world. I specifically do not offer this service through 1:1 sessions with individuals because pronouns are social phenomena by nature and require intentional group interaction to promote collective awareness, use, and accountability.
During sessions, I provide introductory framing to ground the importance and diversity of third-person pronouns before fielding relevant questions and facilitating small-group practice where participants incorporate a variety of pronouns into spoken and written discourse. I also offer guidance on best practices for responding to inevitable mistakes with mutual compassion which fosters accountability and repair. The intended outcome is increased familiarity, ease, and comfort which contributes to improved group trust and cohesion.
